He paints with a broad brush, but I very strongly agree with the essence. There’s no way you can tell from the outside what a person’s real motivation for churchiness is; but I can speak from personal experience of having had Sunday “highs” followed by the crash on Monday morning when life goes on. That wild divide between church life and the rest of life ought to be a telling sign. Church services, even the conservative ones (maybe even especially the conservative ones), have become a clownish parody of human fellowship.
I long for this openness and realness in the church as well. To overcome our pain and then to truly be able to help...
